On minimum functional observers for linear time-varying systems

چکیده
The paper deals with the minimum case where the order of the observer and the number of observed variables are equal. The results are deduced from the analysis of the necessary and sufficient existence conditions for an asymptotic observer. A constructive procedure for the design of a minimum linear functional observer for a linear time-varying linear system is given. As a specific feature, the proposed procedure does not require the solution of a Sylvester equation. The main result can be considered as an extension to the time-varying case of a necessary and sufficient existence condition established previously in the time-invariant case.
